30th meal served this morning.
God is gracious to us every single Thursday morning. Due to a variety of circumstances, the majority of our regular team members had to miss Grace’s Kitchen today. But God brought several unexpected volunteers to help prepare, package, and distribute the food, reminding us that His plan will not be thwarted.
When we first arrived at the park it was closed to thru traffic due to an art festival. We were met by some of our regulars as we drove up who already had a plan B for us in case we could not get through. However, a very nice police officer let us pass with no problem and we were able to feed the people waiting for us. As soon as we unloaded, we were greeted by a man we had prayed for last week. He took a bus to get to the park this morning so he could tell us that God had answered our prayers and he found a place to live. He said “Prayer really works!! I got an apartment and I had to come and tell you!” What a testimony to the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness to His children!
We listened to several people today who shared extremely difficult circumstances. One man shared his struggle of having the option to stay with his daughter in a small town and not working, but wanting to find work to help pay the bills. He is having trouble finding work because he has no car, and his bag with all his personal belongings was recently stolen on the streets. Many of our friends have no phone or way to reach out to loved ones, even if they know where they are located. Sometimes circumstances bring them to this point and sometimes consequences. Regardless of the situation, many feel helpless and that they are stuck in a never-ending cycle. It is hard to see the light in these dark situations, but we know that there is a God that nothing is too big for. We are continually humbled by those we serve and that God allows us the opportunity to be a small part of their lives. Please be in continued prayer for those Grace’s Kitchen serves. As we were reminded today, “Prayer really works!”
