31st meal served this morning.
Before the beginning of time, God knew what we would be doing on this Thursday morning and specifically to whom we would be ministering. What a blessing to know Him as Sovereign! For breakfast today, we served pancakes and bacon, which meant that more people than usual stayed around the tables. This allowed our team members to visit one-on-one with those who gathered. The conversations we had included the following: those who have lost jobs and haven’t been able to find new ones, those who are estranged from their families, those who suffer greatly with mental illness, those who are lonely, those who are in physical pain, and the list can go on and on. Needless to say, these are some heavy subjects, but each week before we go to the park, we ask God to ordain our conversations and to help us to communicate His love to the people we meet. It is neat to see how He does that. The people in the park, who so often are treated as outcasts, desire the same things we do—love and acceptance. Through God’s power, our team is able to offer both of these to those in the park.
In our devotion time, we shared the following scripture with all who gathered: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 How faithful is our Heavenly Father to remind us of His great love and mercy on a day when our team would hear many seemingly hopeless situations! Please be in prayer for the people we minister to each week. Pray that God will show Himself to each of them.
