32nd meal served this morning.
Many times we spin our wheels worrying about all the details that go into this ministry as well as in other areas of our lives. However, the Bible tells us to rely on God for all things. We are to rely on our Heavenly Father because His ways are thankfully not the same as ours—they are infinitely better!
Today we had fewer volunteers than normal in the park. Instead of fretting when we realized this, we began to pray that God would provide the exact number of people needed to accomplish what He has called us to do today. He absolutely provided! Our team was able to serve all the food and invest valuable time in conversation with those we served.
Today one man surprised several of our team members by giving us handwritten thank-you notes. Each one was different and included an encouraging scripture. We were truly humbled that this man took the time to thank us for the food we serve each week—it was precious! Through these simple notes, he reminded us of the gratitude we are all to lavish on God, our Sovereign Lord and the Creator of the universe. So often we don’t take the time to offer even a quick thank-you to acknowledge when the Father moves in our lives—much less take the time to be specific about the love and care He has shows us. What an awesome reminder! This is another example of how this ministry is about us growing closer to God through obedience, not just about feeding people. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
Thank you for your prayers and investment in Grace’s Kitchen! Soli Deo Gloria!
