33rd meal served this morning.
We are now in the middle of our 8th month of serving breakfast on Thursday mornings. This particular morning was a little scattered and we had to make some last-minute adjustments, but God is faithful and all ended well. It is sometimes easy to slip into a routine and think we have this down. But God gently reminds us on days like today that we must continue to rely on Him and not our own capabilities.
Many of the people we serve in the park are a source of encouragement to us. They pray for us just as we pray for them. Others are not as encouraging, and there are times when we struggle with the darkness that surrounds what we are doing. One man we have been sharing with for several weeks seemed more distant and discouraged than normal today. The team member who was talking with him felt frustration at first because of his dark mood. Sometimes the needs are more than we, in our humanness, can bear. But God gently reinforced to this team member that we are to persevere and continue to share and pray, whether it is received or not. Consistency is so important in this ministry and we are trusting that God will help us be consistent as we serve Him.
Please pray with us for the salvation of those we serve. We know the physical needs are great, but the need for a Savior outweighs them all. We are all broken, messed-up people and we need a perfect God. The promise that was offered in our scripture today is from Psalms 18:30: “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.” We are thankful for this promise today. Thank you for your prayers.
